Camp Mewata is not owned by Girl Guides of Canada.
Camp Mewata is a 10-acre wilderness camp 18Km north from Highway 97 (or 35 minutes south from the O’Keefe ranch turn off) on Westside road in West Kelowna. From the south, the camp is 2 Km past Okanagan Lake Resort—turn right at the trefoil sign.
The Upper Site:
In the pine forest.
The Lower Site:
On the beach…7 tent platforms, grassy area for tents, a large campfire (wood supplied), 4 outhouses. Brownie Retreat building (30 x 13) can be used for sleeping indoors. Stone fireplace.
The Kitchen:
Between the sites…2 electric fridge/freezers. A 6-burner commercial propane gas stove, running (but not potable) water, sinks, fully stocked with dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils/ containers/ pots etc. Tables outside on covered deck. Can accommodate up to 40 campers. Power supply available only for fridges and cell phone chargers. No capacity for other appliances. If breaker tripped, part-time caretaker (Donna Denison) must be called to restore power. Supplied water must be boiled for one full minute prior to use. Cooled water may be used for washing vegetables, making juices, brushing teeth, washing dishes etc. Please remember this!
